Objective of job

  • Implementation, monitoring, maintaining, and further developing product safety-related standards, including their documentation, at the DUN site, in cooperation with the safety engineer and central product safety representative
  • As safety-relevant issues are identified in production, provide detailed information to program management and plant management for subsequent risk evaluation and decision-making processes
  • Implementation of measures to prevent third-party product liability claims at the plant level

 

Principal activities

  • Cooperate in the implementation and maintenance of the defined safety standards using as a basis the current valid versions of the DRX Documentation Guidelines
  • Conduct docu-audits, including documentation of the audit results. Initiate corrective action process in case of deviations.  Report findings and status to program management, plant management, and corporate quality functions.  Verify effectiveness of defined corrective actions or improvement activities
  • Conduct misuse tests, including documentation of results and initiation of corrective action process in case of deviation.  Report findings and status to program management, plant management, and corporate quality functions.  Verify effectiveness of defined corrective actions or improvement activities.
  • Continually improve awareness of product safety-related topics in the plant organization
  • Conduct training related to product safety and product liability with focus on relationship between safety-related characteristics and production processes
  • Create safety-related internal publications (e.g. presentations, etc.) and present as required
  • Participate in definition of emergency plans in the plant with regards to product safety (e.g., assurance of long-term traceability of parts produced under contingency, verification of function) and evaluate effectiveness
  • Participate in definition of reaction plans in the plant with regards to product safety (e.g., contingency for data issue in series production including component evaluation, traceability of non-conforming part)
  • Facilitate and provide expert guidance in the corrective action process for safety-related anomalies communicated by the customer.  Participate in root cause analysis, countermeasure definition, verification of effectiveness, etc.
  • Lead the Safety Q-Alarm process for safety-related anomalies identified internally.  Coordinate definition and execution of test methodology to analyze anomalies identified in safety-related processes and products with focus on series-level production.
  • Support the series-level change management process as subject matter expert for product safety-relevant topics (including testing, validation, documentation, etc.) in cooperation with the change management team
  • Act as internal and external contact person for product safety topics; participate in internal DRX working groups when input regarding product safety topics is required
  • Serve as Product Safety Representative (PSR/PSB) for production facility when external customer requirement applies
  • Participate in activities intended to avoid product safety defects in the product development and series-level production stages (e.g., engagement in FMEA and Requirements Manual meetings)
  • Participate in "lessons learned" activities in conjunction with the project teams to ensure that observations and findings related to product safety are considered at the inception of future programs
  • Assure safety-related issues identified in individual car line processes are similarly evaluated on comparable processes within the production facility; inform regional representatives and counterparts regarding identified issues and corrective measures as applicable
  • Interface with the regional product safety representatives and safety engineers.  Participate within regional and global forums to share findings and lessons learned.
  • Confirm that the required reporting channels are followed in case of COP (i.e., series production) deployment anomalies and safety issues reported from the field
  • Continuous improvement in coordination with the responsible technical departments

 

Job Requirements

Bachelors Degree or equivalent working experience

1-2 years Experience with safety related products in a manufacturing or automotive environment

3-5 years Experience structured problem solving experience
