Objective of job

This position acts as local logistics liaison for the BMW Customer in the USA, including their mandated tier 1 Customers. Coordinates communication and activities to support JIS / JIT day to day customer service interface in the Region to ensure accurate order processing and on time delivery to the Customers.

 

Principal activities

  • Coordinates actions and communication between SCM Customer Interface associates and the Customers during ramp up / phase out phases and during special situations such escalations or during critical delivery issues by representing DRX ES logistics in the USA. 
  • Maintains solid communication with internal and external customers regarding business changes, shipping forecasts and other key planning data
  • Customer representative with regards to the definition of corrective and preventive actions, in coordination with the respective logistics operations department and logistics complaint management function.
  • Cooperate in the definition of action plans / goal agreements with Customers
  • Create and negotiate logistical agreements (e.g. between directed suppliers, DRX plants and Customer) in coordination with the involved departments in Logistics and Sales.
  • Coordinates regular visits to customer locations, understand their networks and identify opportunities to reduce cost or add customer value (receiving processes, packaging changes, etc.) while improving delivery reliability.
  • Customer representative with regards to logistics requirements in coordination with the respective SCM logistics operations electrics and project development functions.
  • Initiates immediate containment actions to protect the customer from receiving non-conforming products, at the same time minimizing the financial impact to DRX. Provides the cut-off point (clean build) to the customer in cooperation with the respective department (plant quality, supplier quality or logistics);
  • Entitled to issue directives to all areas in case of quality or supply related disturbances of the process, in coordination with the respective complaint management function, with the main goal of assurance of on time provision of products to the customer at the required quality levels.
  • Reviews QSYS 8D reports in coordination with SCM / JIS Control, Plant Logistics and Logistics complaint functions to support and follow up actions and to make sure response into the BMW B2B or other tier 2 customer portals are uploaded on time.
  • Acts as a “firewall” between the customer and the DRX organization, and protects the DRX Company from issues that are not caused by internal process failures or by DRX sub-suppliers. Conducts the preliminary investigation of delivery issues together with the customer; provides information and details about complaints / delivery issues or requirements to the appropriate Logistics department at DRX.
  • Reviews and report on a regular basis the LPKM relevant topics with the customer and support Logistics Complaint function to dispute, negotiate if needed.
  • Coordinates line trials and special projects at customer location and DRX production facility in cooperation with the respective departments.
  • Continuous Improvement in coordination with the responsible technical departments
  • Manages and prioritizes activities based on organization needs.
  • Clarifies logistics technical questions, concerns, and/or problems with the customer in coordination with different Logistics and SCM departments within the DRX organization

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 5 years experience in Logistics, Quality, or Engineering within an Automotive Environment
