Objective of Job:

  • Ensure all Industrial, Process Technician, and Automation Engineering relevant functions in the plant are carried out. This position will be responable for the Automation Engineers and Engineering Techs.

 

Principle Activities:

  • Support the strategic planning of the department/unit (Abteilung/Fachbereich) by breaking down or developing the strategic planning for the group, within a short or medium-range time frame
  • Plan and administer the budget in his/her area of responsibility, in cooperation with the supervisor, and make sure there is compliance with it
  • Cooperate in personnel planning within his/her area of responsibility in cooperation with the supervisor; employ qualified personnel
  • Provide technical and disciplinary leadership to associates that report to him/her; make personnel decisions in cooperation with the HR department and the supervisor
  • Break down and prioritize department goals for associates
  • Oversees assigned engineers as functional supervisor.
  • Ensure all associates are properly trained to perform required job function.
  • Ensure resource planning, meets DUN overall headcount requirements considering the economic impact: efficiency, budget, POH, oOH, and scrap.
  • Supports Maintenance group with improved HMI layouts for faster troubleshooting.
  • Support cross-functional team in developing and maintaining process flows, and PFMEA’s.
  • Ensure that all related documentation for production is current (Equipment Data sheets, Software backup, etc.).
  • Participate and support new program development and product launch.
  • Ensure associates understand required quality specifications for job.
  • Assists in troubleshooting quality problems.
  • Ensure all error-proofing devices are working properly.
  • Process / Equipment Optimization / Continuous Improvement
  • Prepares information on new or replacement investments of production equipment
  • Assist maintenance in solving complex equipment, process, and material concerns. Assist in the plant cost savings program to accumulate savings through different avenues such as continuous improvements (DPV’s) and the SAM suggestion system.
  • Assist Engineers in eliminating manufacturing waste, reducing cycle times and increasing efficiency through start-ups
  • Investigates new technologies to enable our business to stay competitive in Automotive Manufacturing
  • Manage various plant level projects
  • Safety and Environment
  • Ensure that all equipment meet OSHA standards
  • Review, monitor, and ensure that all safety regulations are understood and followed.
  • Represents the plant-engineering department to Engineering Manager
  • Communicates and coordinates with other department managers
  • Weekly and Monthly KPI’s
  • Motivation of Employees
  • Provides motivation and assistance as appropriate to department.
  • Provides feedback to Management regarding new associates (monitoring of training and work performance along with appropriate documentation)
  • Monitor associate performance, define expectations & establish development plans
  • Responsible for ensuring that training plans are established and current, and, that all associates are fully trained.
  • Budget Control

Ensure departmental budgets meet NAI goals and objectives and take corrective action when there are non-conformances.

 

Job Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree, concentrated in engineering.  Ex) Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial etc.

 

Work Experience:

3-5 years of manufacturing experience surrounding Industrial automation and robotics.

3-5 years of management experience in the automotive supplier industry.
